rebloggable requested
You just CANNOT tell a white a person they can’t do ANYTHING. No matter how ridiculous the request. They have to have rights to every one and everything and every word and must be right and OMG WHITE PPL ARE OPPRESSED TOO.
what the fuck is that supposed to mean?^^^ i’m kinda offended.
Racism:
1. a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2. racial prejudice or discrimination
I’m still confused as to how racism can only apply to non-whites because NOWHERE in this definition does it say this.
CALLED IT!

These conversations can only go so long before someone assumes that the fucking dictionary is the be-all end-all of sociological constructs.

“haHA!! got you there! how dare you assume that the dictionary will tell you what a word means!”
Haha! How dare you assume a resource could be free from white privilege or misinformation or a limited anglocentric worldview!
Racism also has a connotation of power. As whites are the race in power, discrimination against them would be just that, or prejudice. Racism is handed down from the group in power, as is sexism and any other form of discrimination based on unchangeable factors. So white people cannot experience racism unless they are dishing it out.
Racism is an underlying presense in modern society. It is so ingrained into today’s society it is almost impossible to eliminate. Despite taking steps to fight racism it is still in the subconscious of your mind. Being that I am white as well as Japanese I have been a victim of racism, both in America as well as Japan. Being that I am of mixed ethnicity I am not seen as a part of the society of the country I live in. I am an outcast because I am not of one or the other. Also racism is not something somebody should ever want to experience. It is a demoralizing feeling, a feeling of worthlessness. Nobody should want to experience racism to understand the feeling because nobody should ever have to experience such feelings.
